John Ganus is a 1989 graduate of J.B. Pennington High School. He holds a Level III certification in Career Technical Education from Athens State University. This is Mr. Ganus’s ninth year as the drafting contractor at the BCCTC. Prior to working at the BCCTC, he owned his own business as a contractor both within Blount County and in surrounding counties. Mr. Ganus’s program readies his students to prepare technical drawings and plans for production and construction workers to build everything from toys, appliances, industrial machinery, and homes to office buildings and much more. The technical drawings provide visual guidelines, show the technical details of the products and structures, and specify dimensions, materials, and procedures. This is primarily done by using some type of computer-aided-design (CAD) system to prepare drawings. Mr. Ganus and his wife, Melanie, have two sons, Hunter and Chase. They live in Blountsville and attend Fowler Springs Baptist Church..
